Need to make a deposit while traveling? Helping a student away at college? Spending time out of state? Or maybe you simply need in-person banking support, but you are nowhere near your usual Sunmark financial center.
With CO-OP Shared Branching, Sunmark Credit Union members can access their accounts at thousands of participating credit union locations nationwide. It is one of the biggest credit union benefits many members may not realize they have.
What Is Shared Branching?
Shared branching is a nationwide network of credit unions that work together to give members more places to bank.
Instead of being limited to your local financial center, you can visit a participating shared branch location and complete many everyday transactions as if you were at a Sunmark financial center.
In simple terms: shared branching helps your credit union go where you go.
Why Shared Branching Matters
Life is busy, and your banking needs do not always happen close to home. Shared branching gives Sunmark members added flexibility when they are traveling, moving, visiting family, or managing finances away from the Capital Region.
Through the CO-OP Shared Branch network, Sunmark members have access to more than 5,000 shared branching locations nationwide. That means you may have more direct account access than you would with many traditional banks.
What Can You Do at a Shared Branch?
At participating shared branch locations, Sunmark members can handle many common banking needs, including:
Before visiting, check that the location participates in shared branching and confirm which services are available.
How to Find a Shared Branch Location
Finding a participating location is simple. Visit Sunmark’s CO-OP Shared Branching page to search for shared branch locations near you.
When visiting, bring a valid ID and have your Sunmark member information ready. This helps the credit union verify your identity and complete your transaction more smoothly.
What About Security?
Convenience matters, but protecting your account matters just as much.
Sunmark’s shared branching information includes added in-person identity protection for members who visit a Shared Branch location with an out-of-state ID. A teller may ask you to verify your identity through a secure process that includes a QR code, one-time passcode, member information, ID photo, and selfie.
This added step helps protect your account while still giving you convenient access when you are away from home.
Local Service, Nationwide Access
One of the biggest differences between credit unions and traditional banks is cooperation. Through shared branching, credit unions work together to give members access across the country.
That means Sunmark members get the best of both worlds, local, member-focused service at home and nationwide access when life takes them elsewhere.
Visit Sunmark’s CO-OP Shared Branching page to find a participating location near you. You can also explore Sunmark’s Locations page or use online and mobile banking for convenient access anytime.
