From an early age, children begin to observe their parents in all areas of life, including their spending and saving and how they talk about money. Kids pick up on our attitudes about money just by watching us. Here are five money-related habits that you can start teaching them right now.

*For individuals under the age of 18, the Youth Savings Account will require a parent/legal guardian on the account as a joint owner.
 

**APY = Annual Percentage Yield. Rate effective as of March 30, 2023 and is subject to change without notice. Fees or other conditions could reduce earnings. Certain restrictions may apply. Youth Savings account available to all up to age 25. Upon turning 25 years old, the account will automatically convert to a Regular Share Savings account at the standard market rate. $0.01 balance required to open account and must maintain $0.01 minimum balance to earn advertised rate. Subject to membership eligibility. Dividends earned may be reported as interest on IRS Form 1099-INT (or Form 1042-S, if applicable). ^ValleyCats ‘Cats Crew Kids Membership is open to children ages 12 and under. Children/students ages 13-25 who open a Youth Savings Account during the month of April will be eligible to receive (2) tickets to one ValleyCats game for the 2024 season. ^^Drawing subject to applicable law.  Odds of winning depend on the number of qualifying Youth Savings Accounts opened during month of April 2024.  Void where prohibited.  No purchase necessary.  Sunmark membership required to enter and must be established to accept prize.  Sunmark Youth Membership must be established by April 30, 2024 at any Sunmark branch or online. Memberships established after April 30, 2024 will not be eligible for prize.  Winner will be drawn at random from list of qualifying accounts.  Winners will be notified via Parent/Guardian phone by May 20, 2024. If winning household cannot be reached by May 20, 2024 another winner will be chosen. A 1099-INT may be issued if required.
