Summer of Kindness Kicks Off with Tri-City ValleyCats
5/7/26
Sunmark Credit Union and the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation are kicking off the sixth year of their annual Summer of Kindness initiative with a special partnership with the Tri-City ValleyCats.
The program invites
children up to age 12 to submit their ideas for spreading kindness in their
communities. From neighborhood cleanups and care package drives to creative
projects entirely their own, children are encouraged to think boldly about how
they can make a positive difference.
As part of this
year’s launch, one child will be selected for the opportunity to throw the
first pitch at a ValleyCats game.
“People helping
people isn’t just something we say, it’s something we practice,” said Audrey
Stone, Sunmark Community Engagement Manager and Executive Director of the
Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation. “Every summer, children across this
region show us what that looks like at its best. Their ideas are small acts
with big hearts, and we are honored to help bring them to life.”
The Summer of
Kindness initiative began in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as
a way to address community needs and bring people together during a time of
uncertainty. Since then, it has grown into one of the Foundation’s cornerstone
programs, highlighting the power of youth-led kindness throughout the region.
By focusing on youth
development, education, and community engagement, Sunmark and the Foundation
continue to show how small acts of kindness can create lasting impact.
