Sunmark Foundation Participates in National Night Out

Sunmark Credit Union and the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation participated for the fifth consecutive year in National Night Out, on Tuesday August 5. National Night Out was introduced in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch in an effort to connect community members with law enforcement agencies in positive, relationship-building settings. To date, the event has grown to include over 17,000 communities and 38 million attendees across the United States.

The Sunmark Kindness Crew participated in five National Night Out events throughout the Capital Region and Hudson Valley, spending time with members of the Clifton Park, Guilderland, Rotterdam, Bethlehem, Yorktown, and Hudson communities. Kindness Stations were set up at each location for children to create thank you cards for first responders. The completed cards, along with some sweet treats, were distributed to area police and fire departments marking the last Summer of Kindness project for 2025.

Other Kindness Projects this summer included partnering with WNYT for a Teacher Supply Drive, a Girls Inc. Ignite! program day hosted at Sunmark headquarters to provide sixth and seventh grade girls with insight into career paths within a financial institution, participation in the City of Schenectady Fire Department’s Fishing with a Firefighter Day, and attendance and support at the City of Albany’s Playstreets initiative.

The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation’s Summer of Kindness program began in 2021 and aims to spread kindness in our local communities. To learn more about the program and past projects, visit sunmark.org/kindness.

The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation provides financial contributions, in-kind services, and volunteer support to non-profit organizations within the Sunmark 14 county charter area.
