Sunmark Foundation Joins City of Albany’s Playstreets InitiativeAs the fourth project in the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation’s 2025 Summer of Kindness, Sunmark partnered with the City of Albany on Friday, August 1 to host a free community event at Buckingham Pond.
The outdoor event titled, “Buckingham Pond: Nature Theme,” is part of the City of Albany Department of Recreation’s summer PlayStreets lineup, held on Fridays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. from July 11 to August 8. Each date incorporates a different theme and is focused on creating safe spaces for families and kids to enjoy their neighborhoods during the summer months. Sunmark’s Kindness Crew provided hands-on fishing lessons with over 20 free fishing poles given away to local attendees.
“This was such a rewarding experience,” shared Audrey Stone, Sunmark Credit Union community engagement program manager and vice president of the Sunmark Foundation. “It’s the kind of event that’s at the core of who the Foundation is – getting out into the community, investing in grass roots programs that make an immediate impact for those who need them.”
Other Kindness Projects this summer included partnering with WNYT for a Teacher Supply Drive, a Girls Inc. Ignite! program day hosted at Sunmark headquarters to provide sixth and seventh grade girls with insight into career paths within a financial institution, participation in the City of Schenectady Fire Department’s Fishing with a Firefighter Day, and attendance and at five National Night Out events.
