Sunmark Partners With Schenectady Firefighters for Community Fishing EventThe Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation continued their 2025 Summer of Kindness initiative on Wednesday, July 30 in a joint project with the City of Schenectady Fire Department, Wiggly Worm Bait Supply, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Schenectady Parks Department and Marino Charters. Members of the Sunmark Kindness Crew teamed up with representatives from the fire department for “Fishing With a Firefighter Day” held at Steinmetz Park in Schenectady.
The project was a free community fishing event which provided hands-on fishing lessons with Schenectady firefighters and free fishing poles to local youth. Sunmark Kindness Crew were on site to aid the firefighters, along with serving breakfast and lunch to over 40 attendees and a dozen firefighters.
This project was open to the public and extended an opportunity for the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation to continue its goal of giving back to the communities it serves. This marks the third Kindness Project for the summer, following the Teacher Supply Drive held during the months of June through August, and the Girls, Inc. Ignite! in July.
The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation provides financial contributions, in-kind services, and volunteer support to non-profit organizations within the Sunmark 14 county charter area.
