Sunmark Continues Summer of Kindness at National Night Out

The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation completed its second Summer of Kindness project on Tuesday, August 2 in conjunction with National Night Out, an annual community-building event to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

The Sunmark Kindness Crew participated in four National Night Out events throughout the Capital Region and Hudson Valley, spending time with members of the Clifton Park, Guilderland, Peekskill, and Yorktown communities. Kindness Stations were set up for children to create thank you cards for first responders – a project which was the result of “Kindness Deposits” made by two Voorheesville children who wanted to thank those who help to keep our communities safe. The completed thank you cards will be distributed to area EMS, police and fire departments later this summer as part of another Summer of Kindness project.

2022 marks the second consecutive year that Sunmark has joined National Night Out. Last year, The Sunmark Kindness Crew had children plant vegetable gardens to help grow food for families in need. Would your child like to spread kindness this summer? The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation and Beekman 1802 are inviting children to “deposit kindness” by submitting their ideas on how they would spread kindness where they live. Kindness forms are available at any Sunmark Credit Union location, or online at www.sunmark.org/kindness. Children are invited to deposit their ideas into the Beekman 1802 goat banks located at any Sunmark branch, or via email at kindness@sunmark.org.
