Sunmark Teams With Local Daycare to Bring "Brighter Birthdays" to Community
The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation continued the 2023 edition of it's award-winning "Summer of Kindness" program recently when volunteers teamed up with children from the Lil Lambs Christian Daycare in Clifton Park to complete what the foundation calls a "kindness project".
The mission of the project was to help members of the community celebrate birthdays for their children without the financial burden that often comes with having a birthday party. Foundation volunteers worked with children and staff from Lil Lambs to decorate and fill birthday bags that contained decorations and other essentials (like frosting of course). Together, the team was able to create 100 birthday bags, each of which will be donated to local food pantries.
The kindness project, an idea submitted by a member of the Sunmark Credit Union branch in Delmar, marked the foundation's third such project this summer. In June, the third annual "Summer of Kindess" kicked off with a kindness project that saw the foundation collaborate with KIPP schools across Albany and Troy. That project brought kids from three local KIPP schools together to decorate waste collection bins to be donated to community organizations.
