Incredibly Easy Ways to Help Your Community

The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation is devoted to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”. Through various strategies and initiatives, the Foundation can provide financial contributions, in-kind services, and volunteer support to non-profit organizations within the Sunmark 14 county charter area.

  • Volunteer Support: The Foundation is comprised of 10 members who use their own time and talents to help partner organizations when needed. In addition, Sunmark Credit Union allows all staff members to volunteer with local non-profit organizations during work hours.
  • Financial Contributions: Non-profits who are located within the charter area of the Credit Union can apply for financial assistance. The Foundation’s Board of Directors reviews applications monthly and has allocated funds to an average of 40 organizations annually.

The foundation is excited about two exciting events this spring and summer. One is to help raise money to assist us in our mission. And a second summer-long initiative to share kindness in our communities.

Sunmark Golf Classic

Sunmark's 22nd Annual Charity Golf Classic will tee off Monday, August 1, 2022, at Normanside Country Club in Delmar. Proceeds from our golf event benefit the Sunmark Foundation and its mission to assist non-profit organizations within the Sunmark 14 county charter area. Sponsor this event or enjoy a great day of golf with the Sunmark Squad.

Summer of Kindness

Sunmark Credit Union and the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation have joined together with Beekman 1802, a company founded by an act of kindness, to fulfill a common goal of spreading more kindness in the world - starting with our communities. Our Summer of Kindness project invites children up to age 12 to “deposit kindness” by submitting ideas on how they would spread kindness in their community.

A Kindness Crew comprised of members from Sunmark Credit Union and Beekman 1802 will work with children throughout the summer to bring Kindness Projects to life.

This year, we can bring the Kindness Crew to you! Are you a teacher or youth leader who would like to bring kindness into your classroom or organization? This spring, the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation and Beekman 1802 are hosting Kids Kindness Workshops as a part of our Summer of Kindness initiative.

During workshops, children will learn what it means to be kind and how even the smallest act of kindness can leave a positive impact on the world.

The Kindness Crew will facilitate a group discussion on the meaning of kindness and help children brainstorm how to spread kindness in their homes, communities, and school. Groups will complete a hands-on Kindness Project to benefit a local organization in their community.

Workshops are tailored to fit various age groups and schedules.  If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Audrey Stone, Community Engagement Program Manager, at audrey.stone@sunmark.org.
